XIII: Script Development

Over the next week I would pay close attention at developing my script. I used the module handbook and the assessment sheet for the performance to evaluate how I was being assessed and what I wanted to include. Using these sources I was able to create something I was happy with and included what was required.

Using the theme of the influence technology has had on the way celebrities/actors/musicians have been treated I began to research stories to include within my script. My overall aim was to create a realistic, conversational piece of theatre. It would all be a conversation between audience and actor about the excitement and fears of what is to come in the future. These stories would be ones that I have heard about myself so they seemed natural for the actor to recall them.

Although my script was pre-written. I loosely learnt it because I wanted my delivery to appear as it if was natural and on-the-spot thinking as you would expect from a conversation. No conversation is scripted so I was going to ensure that it didn’t appear rehearsed.

I wanted to leave the stories nameless for two reasons, one that it could happen to any person with a large following and two, the audience could relate it to another person they are aware of as these incidents aren’t uncommon. One of the main aims with these stories was to show these actors are human too. This reflects on my purpose being there that this could happen to me but also that these people were once small actors.
